What is Ayurvedic hair and skin care like?

Ayurvedic body care is, above all, cleansing and nourishing the skin.It includes treatments that improve blood circulation and boost energy, that is massaging and brushing the body. Ayurvedic care is based on natural ingredients obtained from plants – natural oils and aromatic spices as well as plant extracts (amla, neem herb, aloe vera extract, lotus flower extract, turmeric and cinnamon).
Natural oils
Natural oils moisturize, nourish and take great care of the skin and hair. They are used as an oil base for cosmetics and for a warm massage. It is believed that a massage with warm oils has a beneficial effect on our health, well-being and beauty, because it not only moisturizes and nourishes the skin, but also accelerates the removal of toxins from the body and relaxes.
The list of essential oils on which Ayurvedic care is based on include:
- coconut oil,
- sesame oil,
- almond oil,
- rose oil,
- tea tree oil.
Coconut oil is the most universal one. It has moisturizing, regenerating properties and it provides sun protection. What’s more, it helps to heal acne and enhances softness and elasticity of the hair.
Sesame oil has warming and detoxifying properties. It regulates the work of sebaceous glands and improves blood circulation. Moreover, it has a beneficial effect on the hair: it thickens and increases its shine.
Almond oil nourishes and smoothes out sensitive, delicate skin. Rose oil has antiseptic and antibacterial properties; it soothes the effects of tanning and prevents the formation of acne. Furthermore, tea tree oil has antibacterial and antiseptic properties and helps to fight skin imperfections.
