A vast majority of women dream of having radiant, rested and sunkissed skin. That’s usually what we look like after returning home from summer holidays. Does it mean that women who did not go on a trip cannot look like that? No! Luckily, there are easy and effective ways to gain radiant and beautiful skin! What are they? Let’s find out!
Give up using loose, mattifying powders
As soon as summer approaches, it is worth putting aside loose and mattifying powders and come back to them in the late fall. Why? Because scorching sun reveals and emphasizes the thick powdery effect on the skin. That’s why it is better to replace it with a liquid foundation or a lighter BB or CC cream. In order to gain a healthy glow on your cheeks, add a few drops of oil to the foundation applied in that area. However, if you have oily skin and are worried that your skin might get too shiny, use blotting paper instead of adding more layers of powder (yiu might as well use regular tissues to collect excess sebum from the skin).
Use boosters
Boosters are cosmetics that are aimed to maintain the proper moisture level on the skin. In the summer, water evaporates from the skin faster than the skin is able to absorb it, especially in case of a tendency to skin dehydration. Therefore, it is worth using a few drops of oil or a hyaluronic acid-based serum during your morning and evening routine. While the former will provide the skin with a moisture-retaining layer on the epidermis, the latter will effectively cool and refresh the complexion.
Use gentle exfoliators
In the summer, when the temperature increases significantly, the skin ‘activates’ an additional protective mechanism, which consists in an increased secretion of sebum. As a result, the skin becomes more oily to the touch and loses its healthy color. If you reach for a gentle scrub with fruit acids, at least once a day, preferably in the morning, it will gain a younger, pink shade.
Cleanse your skin like the Koreans do
The Asian way of skin cleansing takes up a lot of time but it is definitely worth using. In this case, start by massaging oil into the face – it will collect all the impurities and remaining makeup. Next, go in with a cleansing gel or a mousse diluted with water to wash down the oil. Then, wipe the face with a toner or rose water and apply your favorite facial cream. As a result, the blood circulation will be improved, the face will be moisturized, the skin pores will be narrowed and the complexion will be refreshed.
Store your cream in the fridge
Often times, after waking up, the skin is swollen and dull. This is the outcome of lymph stasis, which in turn is the result of hot nights. To improve the appearance of your skin, apply a towel moistened with cold, almost icy water to your face, massage the face vigorously and apply a well-chilled cream. Low temperature will refresh the skin tone.
Use a pharmaceutical under-eye cream
Dark under-eye circles, puffiness and fine lines around the eye only intensify the dull and tired look of your face. In order to prevent it, it is best to apply a thick layer of a rich cream to the area under the eye. Such a product will have beneficial effects on the skin.
Apply the foundation with a tone darker than usual
The foundation you used throughout the winter and spring may be too pale in the summer. But beware: we do not distribute the darker foundation evenly over the entire face, but we pat it in the parts of the skin that are most exposed to the sun, that is, the forehead, the tops of the cheeks, the chin and the nose. Then, gently rub it to the sides of the face.
Quick and long-lasting tan
Sometimes, after applying self-tanner and waiting a few hours for the cosmetic to process, the effects turn out differently than what we were expecting. Luckily, there are various methods to prevent it. One of the solutions is to use a ‘fast tan’ product that stains the skin right after the application. Thanks to this feature, you are able to see where the product is being applied and whether it is even all over. Another asset is the ability to gradually increase the intensity of the tan: if you feel that you’ve applied a too thick layer, you just wash your body and the color does not get deeper. Here are other methods to gain beautiful tan:
Acid therapy instead of a scrub
So far, cosmetologists have advised performing a body scrub enriched with smoothing micro-particles just before applying the self-tanner. Now instead of them, you can use preparations based on fruit acids, for example, almond or glycolic acid. They not only even out the skin surface but also improve its color. It’s enough to massage them in the evening, and in the morning you will wash it down and apply self-tanning.
Spray leg makeup and BB balms
To mask the blood vessels and other skin imperfections, it is worth using the so-called leg makeup and a BB balm for the body. Immediately after they are applied to the skin, you get the sunkissed effect, and the dilated capillaries, bruises, and scars are masked. In addition, the skin becomes velvety smooth, and the legs are optically slimmer.
Toner and a self-tanner
This duo will allow you to get a nice tan of legs and cleavage. For this purpose, just wipe the body with a cotton pad soaked in atoner, and when it dries, carefully apply the bronzing balm or self-tanning lotion. As a result, the skin will gain the proper pH and it will become smoother, better moisturized and evenly tanned.
Products rich in beta-carotene for better skin color
For the skin to gain a golden color, you should consume products rich in beta-carotene and lycopene, such as kale, apricots, carrots, and tomatoes at least three times a day. Thanks to the dyes contained in them, the skin will gradually develop a nice shade.
