One of the natural cosmetics that performs many functions and has a good effect on the skin is called a hydrolate.

What is a hydrolate?

Hydrolate is vegetable (mostly floral) water obtained as a by-product of plant steam distillation. The main product of the whole process is an essential oil, which is used in the production of perfumes and cosmetics. The second side substance is a hydrolate containing valuable active substances. It has a delicate smell because there is very little essential oil in it. The pH level of the hydrolate is close to the pH of our skin. For this reason, it can successfully replace a facial toner.

Who is the hydrolate recommended for?

Hydrolates can be used to take care of all skin types, from sensitive to acne-prone skin. Hydrolates have different properties, so they should be adapted to the right type of skin. Unfortunately, not everyone can use hydrolates. These are primarily allergy sufferers, people with AD and pregnant women. Here are some examples of flower waters:

Hydrolates are to be applied to freshly washed skin instead of a toner. Flower water can also be used to dilute a clay mask or other powdered products. It can be applied as a refreshing body mist or liquid for eye compresses. Hydrolates will also find application in hair care. You can add some of it to shampoo or use it as a skincare product.
